SALVATION, HOLINESS AND DELIVERANCE
By: Rev.Anthony Smith
SALVATION, HOLINESS AND DELIVERANCE. Is Heaven our Destination or our Destiny? Luke 1:74 thru 79. That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. The first question that we must ask is ,”What is SALVATION, HOLINESS AND DELIVERANCE ? Salvation; Preservation or deliverance from destruction, difficulty, or evil. Deliverance from the power or penalty of sin; redemption. HOLINESS; an essential and distinguishing attribute of someone. The quality of being sacred. Deliverance; recovery or preservation from loss or danger. The act of delivering or the condition of being delivered. Rescue from bondage or danger. A publicly expressed opinion or judgment, the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil, the act of regaining or saving someone lost (or in danger of becoming lost), rescuing from error and returning to a rightful course; "the reclamation of delinquent children. SALVATION, HOLINESS AND DELIVERANCE is many things in scripture. Jesus always talked about us as the children of God. The Apostile Paul also stated that we are little children in need od these three things. To the Jews first and then to the gentiles. We must remember that anyone who is not born a Jew are automatically a gentile. That he [God] would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies [The enemies that Jesus is speaking of are the enemies of the soul and spirit. The enemies of the flesh are always going to be there.] might serve him without fear, [without fear knowing that we are saved by grace thru faith, knowing that once saved and delivered out of the hands of our mortal enemies, no one can take us out of the hand of the liveing God.] In holiness and righteousness [not of our own holiness or righteousness but of those things that are of God.] before him, all the days of our life. The life that Jesus speaks of here is the eternal life with Him in Glory. #1.Salvation; Preservation or deliverance from destruction, difficulty, or evil. Deliverance from the power or penalty of sin; redemption. Deliverance from destruction, 1Co 5:5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Salvation comes from the beliefe in the word, which is delievered by the ministers of God. Salvation comes by the hearing of the word. Many are hearing things that they do not understand and it becomes a stumbling block to the unlearned. So when many cannot or will not understand the word, they reject the word with false doctrine. 2Co 10:8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: We as ministers are not ashamed of the authority that has been granted unto us by God to deliever the truth of scripture. We do not use our authority to bring destruction upon any one, for that is not in our power. So then is our authority over you to the good of your souls? Yes. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. No more sacrifices of bulls, goats nor doves will be accepted. Acts 28:28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. All mankind will hear about the salvation of God, but not all will believe. Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Salvation comes from the Heart and from confession from the mouth, as a witness of the Grace and Holiness of God. 2Co 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. Salvation takes a step of faith. A.Assurance from God on your salvation. 2Co 1:6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. B.No fear. Phi 1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. C.Enlightnment. 2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. D.Enemies of the Cross.Phi 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: E.Payment. Phi 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) #2.HOLINESS; an essential and distinguishing attribute of someone. The quality of being sacred. Are we then Holy in the eyes of God? Yes. 1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1Pe 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: The Trinity of God;1John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. The Holy Ghost, which gives us all truths and understanding of scripture, will not live in an unclean body. We are sanctified Holy by God. 1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? We must listen to the ministers of God, because of their sacrifices for us. 2Co 6:4 thru 2Co 6:10; But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. 1Th 4:8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. We are despised by many but we are not the ones being despised but God whom dwells within us. We are the ambasitors of Christ. Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, [SALVATION, HOLINESS AND DELIVERANCE cannot come from any earthly sacrifice of any animal. This is idol worship in the new testiment.] but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Holiness is a state of mind over the body. Liveing a life that is Christ like in the outward and inward appearance. Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy [Jesus], the lump is also holy [the church]: and if the root be holy[Jesus], so are the branches.[We are the Branches] Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. We are Holy, we are in Holiness, we are the of Holiness, we are the immage of God. Will all believe? No. Mat 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. #3. DELIVERANCE; recovery or preservation [Mat 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. 1Th 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.] from loss or danger. The act of delivering or the condition of being delivered. Rescue from bondage [We all at one time or another were in bondage to this world and its laws and customs. Sin reigned in our hearts, minds and spirits.] or danger. A publicly expressed opinion or judgment, the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil, the act of regaining or saving someone lost (or in danger of becoming lost), rescuing from error and returning to a rightful course; "the reclamation of delinquent children. Without deliverance there would be no salvation. There would be no reason to serve God nor believe in Christ. Here is what you are delivered from; 1. delivered from the law of sin and death. 2. delivered from the bondage of corruption. 3. delivered from them that do not believe. 4. delivered from so great a death,{The second Death}. 5. delivered us from the power of darkness. 6. delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 7. delivered from Persecutions. 8. delivered from afflictions.{Body and Soul} 9. delivered from the mouth of the lion. 10. delivered from the filthy conversation of the wicked. 11. delivered from the chains of darkness. SALVATION, HOLINESS AND DELIVERANCE are ALL one and the same. You cannot have one without the other. Just as with God, Jesus and The Holy Ghost, they all are one and all are within in each other. We accept all or none. ars.
