The Unreached Peoples Prayer Profiles
Cambodia
For more information see the Cambodia profile.
Cambodia is a fertile, forest-covered state of southwest indo-china, located on the Mekong River. However, the terrible genocide perpetrated by the extreme Marxist Khmer Rouge in 1975-1978 and the subsequent civil wars have devastated the people. Many are maimed, both physically and emotionally. Families are decimated with numerous widows and orphans.
Buddhism had been the national religion of Cambodia since the 15th century, despite efforts by the Khmer Rouge to eradicate all religion.
For centuries Cambodia has been in spiritual darkness, and only since 1990 has the Christian church in Cambodia had a relative freedom for open worship.
