The Unreached Peoples Prayer Profiles
Thailand
For more information see the Thailand profile.
Thailand is a fertile, well-watered kingdom in southeast
Asia. It enjoys a productive agricultural economy, with its primary
exports being rice, sugar, pineapples, and rubber. Thailand has been a
kingdom since the 13th century, but now is a constitutional monarchy.
The powerful and corrupt army dominated politics, protecting the large
sex industry, drug networks and crime syndicates. The recently elected
civilian government is committed to dealing with the army's corruption
and to diminishing its influence. Thailand means Land of the Free, but
the nation is in bondage to a complex web of culture, spirit appeasement,
occult practices, and Buddhism, which is the state religion. Minority
religions are protected by the government.
