The Unreached Peoples Prayer Profiles
Morocco
For more information see the Morocco profile.
The Kingdom of Morocco is located in the northwest corner of Africa.
It is made up of fertile coastal areas, the barren Atlas Mountains
inland, and the Sahara Desert. Agriculture, tourism, and
phosphate mining are important industries. Formerly a
French and a Spanish protectorate, Morocco became an independent
kingdom in 1956. Its government is a limited democracy with an executive
monarchy. Islam, the state religion, was brought by invading Arab
armies in the seventh century, and the government is committed to
it's preservation as the religion of all Moroccans. Though other religious
groups are tolerated, persecution and
intimidation has steadily increased since 1968.
80% of the population has never had contact with the gospel.
