Singapore is a small country in Southeast Asia located off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. It consists of one larger and many smaller islands. Singapore is a city-state, with 100% urbanization, and is strategically located for communications and trade. It is one of the world's most efficient trading and financial centers and the world's second busiest port. After independence in 1965, Singapore established a parliamentary democracy which has provided direction and stability for Singapore's spectacular economic growth.

The multi-racial and multi-lingual society has freedom of religion. Concerns to maintain ethnic and religious harmony has caused public proclamation of religious belief to be legislatively limited.
